Bri’s murals are

a Zizzi success

Bri, a third-year UCA Illustration student, has transformed two huge wall spaces at the Maidstone branch of Zizzi, using a colour palette inspired by the local area.

It’s the second time this year that UCA students have put their talents to the test, after Ruth Blacklock and Izzy Barrett transformed Zizzi in Farnham.

At the start of every academic year the UCA Students' Union (UCASU) host a Freshers' Fair at our Canterbury, Epsom and Farnham campuses.

The Fairs are a great opportunity to find out about student-run clubs and societies and learn about technical facilities at UCA.

It's also your chance to grab a bag full of freebies from local businesses.

From Farnham to LA:

Meet the UCA graduate carving a career in cinema

Hayley graduated with a BA (Hons) Film Production from UCA Farnham in 2016 followed by an MA in Filmmaking in 2017.

Alongside her studies she completed a range of work experience, working as a runner and videographer.

After working on a range of high profile projects including ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’, she was signed to a US directing / writing management team in LA

Studying for a masters at UCA was one of the smartest decisions I ever made as it taught me not just how to be a crew member, but how to become an all-round filmmaker. My MA film ‘Denouement’ is one of the reasons I’ve just been signed to my new role in LA.

Sustainable brick inventor

pitches design at COP28

Entrepreneur Kongphat, who is studying BA (Hons) Architecture at UCA Canterbury, attended COP28 to represent his tech start-up Phytavaren Technology as its inventor and chief technology officer.

He has created an Interlocking Semi-Calcite Brick, which won the 2023 This is Cool Challenge, run by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL).

<p>Its clever design, including an interlocking feature, also means the assembly process is easier, quicker and uses less plaster in its construction.</p>

My goal is to bridge the gap between innovative design and sustainable technology, potentially leading or contributing to projects that redefine the way we approach construction and environmental sustainability
