Portfolio Requirements

If you have applied to study with us, you’ll be able to upload your portfolio via the UCA Applicant Portal.

For the MA Filmmaking course we ask for the following items:

  • All moving image work should be uploaded to either Vimeo / You Tube / Youku with clear and tested links on the application form.
  • For each moving image (maximum of two please!) a simple and clear overview of the role(s) that the applicant played in the production/s. (Director / producer / camera etc) This overview should be on the application next to the relevant moving image link.
  • Moving image should, where possible, be subtitled in English if the film has been made in another language.

A PDF should be provided along with the moving image links showing work that supports the filmmaking process you have engaged in. This should include aspects, where relevant, of pre-production / production and postproduction. This document could also include other areas of interest and experience, such as:

  • Photography projects
  • Sound projects
  • Sequential graphic narrative projects
  • Scriptwriting

The supporting statement should focus on the following criteria:

  • Filmmaking Skills
  • Previous experience in film production
  • Creative processes
  • Contextual understanding of filmmaking practice
  • Pathway ambitions ( Camera / Production / Direction)

Use of AI

Your portfolio must contain your own work. We understand that some of your portfolio may include work created in part or whole by AI. You must acknowledge this by adding ‘AI generated’ to the relevant section(s), stating how you used AI to create images, and adding a link to the original image with the date it was created (where possible).
