Bio
Martin Sparkes is a multidisciplinary creative whose career bridges the worlds of fine art, fashion, visual communication and emerging technologies. Beginning as a fine artist and sculptor in London, at the prestigious Royal College of Art, where his explorations in performative sculpture and persona laid the groundwork for a seamless transition into the fashion industry, developing a unique aesthetic that examined the boundaries between art, fashion and style.
Martin developed his practice and experience through his contributions as a stylist and fashion editor at fashion magazines in London. With a distinct perspective informed by his artistic background, he contributed to a range of fashion editorial and fashion campaign, collaborating with brands, fashion weeks, designers and creatives through the noughties, bringing an experimental yet refined edge to aspects of the fashion circuit.
Building on his success, Martin launched his own fashion visual communication publication, where he served as joint creative director. This platform further showcased his aesthetic and research in innovating fashion concepts with compelling visual storytelling, exploring the fuse between the physical and digital processes in image making and fashion styling.
As a natural development, In 2021 Martin embarked on a new collaborative project as joint creative director of a publication embracing the advancing technologies in image making, expanding his practice, exploring new conversations and a paradigm for fashion communication. His work fuses the tactile world of the physical object and styling, with technological processes in Ai, AR, VR, 3D render and interactive and immersive experiences that challenge conventional approaches to fashion imagery and the publication format experience.
