Johnny Sharp

Johnny has worked in music journalism for 25 years, and made his (pen) name as Johnny Cigarettes while staff writer for NME during the Britpop era.

Bio

Since going freelance in 2001 (and reverting back to his real name) he has written about music for Q, Mojo, The Guardian, Classic Rock, The Blues magazine, Prog and The Quietus.

He has also turned his hand to many other genres of newspaper and magazine journalism as a sub-editor and editor on men’s lifestyle magazines (including Loaded, Front, GQ, Esquire and Shortlist), newspapers (Daily Star Sunday, The Times, The Evening Standard), Sports titles (FourFourTwo, Forever Sports, Men’s Fitness, Cyclist) and also working as part of the Olympic News Service at London 2012.

He is also the author of two music books, Crap Lyrics (2009) and Mind The Bollocks (2012) as well as the true crime e-book Murder On The New Moon (2011).
