Breda Palmer

Breda is a Technical Tutor for the BA (Hons) Fashion course at the University for the Creative Arts. Breda works part-time Monday to Wednesday with the 1st years, helping them develop their technical skills and understanding of a garment’s construction and finishings. Breda joined UCA just over a year ago having worked at various universities as a sessional tutor. Breda has her own business working as a freelance costume maker in the West End.

Bio

Breda has worked as a costume maker for the past 22 years in TV, film, and theatre. She has worked for companies such as Angels, The National Theatre, The Royal Opera House, The English National Opera, The Bridge Theatre and The Garrick Theater, making costumes for the Kingdom of Heaven, The Merchant of Venice, Bridget Jones Diary: The Edge of Reason, Phèdre, Medea, Frankenstein, Saint Joan, His Dark Materials and The Lonely Planet.

Breda worked at the National Theatre for 13 years as an assistant head pattern cutter and maker for the ladies costume department, working on productions such as War Horse, The History Boys, Oceans at the End of the Lane, Frankenstein, Wonder. Land, and One Man Two Guvnors.

For the last 7 years, Breda has run her own company working as a freelance costume maker, working on Disney’s Frozen the Musical, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, and Phantom of the Opera.
