Technical Tutor in Fashion
Technical Tutor for BA (Hons) Fashion course at the University of the Creative Arts Epsom, Anne has over 30 years of experience in the fashion industry bringing with her a wealth of experience including working for high end fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood for just over 17 years. Anne imparts her technical knowledge and expertise to students across all years on the BA (Hons) Fashion course.
Bio
Anne recently joined UCA coming from Vivienne Westwood’s just under 2 years ago. This gives Anne an opportunity to pass on her creative knowledge and passion for creative art but also to be proactive in giving the students skills, positivity and ambition to achieve their goals in their practical projects.
Anne works closely with the 2nd year pattern cutter for the BA (Hons) Fashion course and develops practical samples and also step-by-step technical samples to help students have a better understanding of complicated garment constructions and to help develop the student’s skill set, as this Is a continuous development.
Anne keeps up-to-date with relevant fashion garment construction along with attention on high standards of garment finishings as well as running several workshops during the year giving students a high level of student experience.
Anne has previously run her own business, worked as a freelance seamstress and freelanced as a technician at two universities. She has held various workshops in arts and crafts, contemporary flower arranging, manageress for Lee Apparel Ltd (Lee Jeans) within a department store and working for C&H Fabrics. Her skill set is vast but at Vivienne Westwood she was head couture seamstress working on couture wedding dresses, corsets, celebrity outfits/dresses, red carpet film premier dresses for celebrities, celebrity wedding dresses including dressing for our royal family and international princesses. Anne also worked on Vivienne Westwood’s Paris catwalk shows for many years, creating some amazing show pieces.

- Various awards for Floral Design having competed at county level, nationally and internationally in competitive flower arranging competitions including two world shows (Boston, USA, Ireland) as well as winning Gold, Silver, Silver-Gilt and Bronze at the world-renowned Chelsea Flower Show over several years.
