Aimée Collins

Aimée is a couture trained pattern cutter, fitter and seamstress with 20 years of varied industry experience.

Bio

A corsetry specialist, Aimée has a thorough knowledge of both modern and historical fitting, sewing and finishing techniques. Also specialising in dress history, millinery, and mid-19th century men’s tailoring, she is always researching and experimenting with historical construction, finishing and fabric manipulation techniques to increase her knowledge base.

After graduating from DeMontfort university with a degree in Contour Fashion, Aimée worked as a creative pattern cutter and lingerie technician for high street supplier Aura, operating CAD pattern cutting systems for six years. After becoming senior lingerie tech and wanting to pursue her interests in high-end fashion, she became the pattern cutter and fitter for luxury bridal wear couture house, Philipa Lepley. This position gave her a thorough knowledge of the couture process, including foundation corsetry, fabric draping, lace manipulation and hand finishing. After a few seasons, she was tasked with setting-up and operating the atelier at luxury lingerie design house, Myla London, working with clients and celebrities to produce couture lingerie collections, corsets and evening gowns for red carpet events.

For the past eight years, Aimée has been self-employed, working with a varied clientele from individuals to museums, to create historical garments, including recreations of extant pieces and commissioned designs.
