Katarina Sengstaken has an MFA in Media Art and Design from Bauhaus University in Weimar Germany. She studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York for her BFA Digital Art where she also minored in Art History.

Before coming to work at UCA she worked in the film and television industry as a freelancer on projects in the field of immersive media, television, and film production.  She has worked on short films and experimental films that were shown at museums such as ZKM and on television like Arte.  Her films have also been in international film festivals all over Germany, the United States, as well as in Russia.   She has also created immersive 180-degree videos for planetariums like the Zeiss Planetarium in Germany.
