Ian Bottle is the pathway leader for Fine Art at University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury. After studying for his BA in Fine Art at Newcastle Polytechnic he studied for an MA in Painting at Chelsea School of Art, London, where he was awarded a Boise Travel Scholarship to Italy.

In 2005 he completed his PGCE in Further Education at Canterbury Christchurch University College.

Professional Membership, Affiliation and Consultancy:

  • 2001 ILT Membership/Higher Education Academy
  • Member of a collective called ‘Container’; a group of artists with a common interest in developing ideas through examining what a book can be or represent, from sequential narrative to sculptural form.

Awards, Grants and Commissions:

  • 2013–2015 - Research funding and European Inter regional Cultural Regeneration (ICR) funding; collaborating with Ecole Superieur d’Art et Design Le Havre et Rouen (ESADHaR) for 'Limber, Spatial Painting Practices' Exhibition/Symposium/Touring Exhibition, Publication.
  • 2007-2010 - Funding from Turner Contemporary for the 'Generate' research project. This practice-based research project was also supported with Teaching and Learning funding to explore its pedagogical implications.
