Gabor Stark lectures on our architecture and design courses at UCA Canterbury. Gabor studied architecture at the Technische Universität Berlin and Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art.

Gabor Stark convenes our Master of Architecture course at UCA Canterbury. Gabor studied architecture at the Technische Universität Berlin and Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art.

On graduating from the TU Berlin Gabor worked on architecture and urban design projects as a freelance architect in Berlin where he co-founded his own practice tx – büro für temporäre architektur in 2000. From 2000 to 2005 Gabor taught architecture and urban design as a guest lecturer and assistant professor at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee and the TU Berlin. He joined the University for the Creative Arts as a senior lecturer in 2007. Gabor initiated and led the MA Urban Design course from 2013-2019 and now convenes the Master of Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 2) programme at UCA Canterbury School of Architecture. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Commissioned Public Art Projects

2019 Mais il faut cultiver notre jardin (completion scheduled for 2021). Archaeological shelter and communal gardening area at Fort Burgoyne, Dover, UK. Commissioned by The Land Trust.

2018 Meander (Spiegel im Spiegel im Spiegel). Artist residency, installation & concert at Kearsney Abbey in Dover, UK. In collaboration with composer Matthew Brown and the Leon String Quartet. Commissioned by Dover District Council, funded by Arts Council England.

2018 Space Standards. Portable sculptures & artist walk for the ChalkUp 21 Art & Architecture Coastal Trail in Dover, UK. Commissioned by DAD Dover Arts Development, funded by Arts Council England.

2017 PolyCatOikia - Unité de la Cohabitation. Art & architecture installation in Pafos, Cyprus. In collaboration with Emilio Koutsoftides. Commissioned by Pafos 2017 European Capital of Culture. 

2014-2016 EKR - The Friendly Army. WW1 commemorative sculpture project at East Kent Railway, Dover, UK. Commissioned by Dover Arts Development, funded by Arts Council England and Kent County Council.

2013-14 Black Currency – The Portable Monument. Public sculpture project. Commissioned by the Siberian Center for Contemporary Arts and the Siberian Center for the Promotion of Architecture, Novosibirsk, Russia.

2010 THF - Tempelhofer Feld: Freiraum- und Stadtentwicklung mit Raumpionieren (Landscape and Urban Development with Urban Pioneers). Implementation strategy, commissioned by Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung Berlin (Senate for Urban Development) & Tempelhof Projekt GmbH, Berlin.

2006-2010 Wriezener Freiraum Labor (Open-Space Laboratory). German pilot project within the ExWoSt (Experimental Housing and Urban Planning) research area: Innovationen für Familien- und Altengerechte Stadtquartiere – Gestaltung Urbaner Freiflächen (Innovations for Family friendly and Cross-generational Civic Districts - Design of the Public Realm), commissioned by the BMVBS (Federal Ministry for Traffic, Building and Urban Development) and the BBR (Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning), Berlin.

2007-2008 Stabilisierungsstrategien für Strukturschwache Räume (Strategies for the Stabilisation of Structurally Weak Regions).
