Lecturer in Fashion Design (Pattern Cutting)
Sophie studied Fashion and Textiles in Bristol at the University of the West of England. She graduated in 2010 with a first-class honours. Proceeding that she completed the prestigious Innovative Pattern Cutting intensive course at Central St Martins. Sophie has both breadth and depth of experience within her field, exploring innovative and alternative pattern cutting methods.
Bio
She has since gathered over a decade of experience in both High end and High Street brands ranging from Roland Mouret and Galvan to Topshop and Asos, giving her an extensive range of knowledge about the industry. Her work has been showcased at London and Paris Fashion weeks, and featured in Vogue, WWD, and BOF. Kristen Stewart, Claire Foy and Beyonce have all sported her pieces. She is still active within the fashion industry enabling her to share practical insight into studio culture and providing her with great connections.
She is hugely passionate about passing on her knowledge at UCA and across other educational establishments and she sees pattern cutting as a craft that should be valued and preserved. Through creative structured lessons she teaches students Manual Pattern Cutting and supports them in their individual work and projects.
