The Performing Objects research group explores the agency of objects through both their functional and decorative qualities. By observing, via chance, intuition and memory, overlooked details and patterns in domestic objects – artworks will be extrapolated into an installation made directly in the space. The idea of ‘framing’ (as constructed form and viewpoint) is used as a narrative device to create a set of interactions between each participant’s works as a collaboration between their artistic practices. This re-framing will be extended to the way in which the work may be viewed - apertures in the exterior surface of the project space will allow only glimpses of those objects performing inside.
