Seuk Lee

Seuk has been teaching at UCA Epsom since 2018, primarily delivering Tailoring and Draping modules to second year and final year students, while continuing to freelance as a creative pattern cutter and consultant for new startups.

Bio

Graduating in Fashion Design & Textiles from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Seuk relocated to London in 1999 to pursue an MA in Fashion at Central Saint Martins. Further specialising in creative pattern cutting, Seuk completed a PGCE in Creative Pattern Cutting and Manufacture at the London College of Fashion.

With over 23 years of experience as a creative pattern cutter, Seuk has worked across a wide range of product categories in both menswear and womenswear, including outerwear, eveningwear, jerseywear, denimwear, tailoring and couture. This variety has provided Seuk with a solid understanding of different garment types and their technical requirements, allowing for adaptability across various fashion projects.

Seuk has also held roles such as Head of the Technical Team, where collaboration with well-known brands such as Michiko Koshino, J Lindberg, Qasimi Homme, Ossie Clark, Aitor Throup, Chalayan, Craig Green, Burberry, Omar Afridi, Miss Sohee, and others has been a significant part of the journey. These experiences have helped Seuk refine technical skills and build strong working relationships within the industry.

In addition to pattern cutting, Seuk’s previous work as an illustrator has contributed to a clearer and more effective design process. Being able to visually communicate design ideas has often made the technical side of fashion more accessible and easier to understand for both designers and teams. This combination of skills allows Seuk to contribute meaningfully to various projects, whether in ready-to-wear or more specialised commissions.

Seuk has contributed to numerous collections showcased at London and Paris Fashion Weeks since 2001, collaborating with designers and technical teams to bring creative visions to the runway. In addition to these projects, Seuk has worked on special commissions for private and high-profile clients such as Cardi B, Gemma Chan and Kamala Harris. These custom designs required a personalised approach, focusing on detail and craftsmanship to meet the unique needs of each client.

Currently, Seuk is actively involved in developing and updating a diverse range of resources and pattern blocks for the Pattern Library, which is designed to be accessible to all year groups at UCA. This ongoing project aims to provide students with a comprehensive library of pattern-making tools that can support their learning and creative exploration throughout their studies. By continually updating these resources, Seuk ensures they remain relevant and aligned with both industry standards and the evolving needs of students.

In collaboration with the technical team at UCA, Seuk’s role is to produce and refine teaching materials for all student cohorts. This includes creating detailed guides, demonstrations and practical exercises that enhance the learning experience across different year groups and specialisations. By working closely with the technical team, Seuk helps ensure that these materials are not only informative but also easy to understand and implement, supporting students' development from foundational skills to advanced techniques.
