Ben teaches BA (Hons) Make-up & Hair Design within the Fashion Image Cluster.

Bio

Benjamin began his career as a makeup artist in 2011, specialising in beauty, fashion editorial, and runway makeup. His work has been showcased on prominent runways, including Margaret Howell, Roksanda, Wales Bonner, Molly Goddard, Hector McClean, Patrick McDowell, Tove, Central Saint Martins, and Halpern. His artistry has also been featured in esteemed publications such as GQ and Grazia Arabia

A graduate of the University for the Creative Arts, Benjamin earned a degree in Fashion Design before pursuing an MA at UAL in Fashion Cultures: Fashion and Film. His postgraduate studies allowed him to develop a deep passion for academic writing and research, which continues to inform his professional and academic endeavours. 

In his current role, Benjamin is dedicated to fostering students’ creative growth by encouraging them to refine their practice with discipline and a critical understanding of their evolving roles within the industry. He emphasises the importance of adaptability, exposing students to contemporary issues, cultural and social theory, and interdisciplinary mediums, all while relating these to the fields of fashion and beauty. His objective is to inspire students to produce thoughtful, informed and impactful creative work that aligns with the demands of a dynamic industry. 

As a researcher, Benjamin focuses on the discourse of makeup and masculinities, a subject he will exploring further through his PhD (Sept 2024 onwards). 

Throughout his career, Benjamin has collaborated with and assisted renowned makeup artists such as Lindsey Alexander, Jo Sugar, Miranda Joyce, and others, continually honing his expertise and contributing to the development of his craft.
