Portfolio Requirements
For MA Animation you’ll be able to upload your portfolio via the UCA Applicant Portal.
Please follow the instructions on screen to upload examples of your drawing skills, recent project work and animated films. On each page you can upload both images and links.
Below is a suggestion of some of the things you might want to include in your portfolio for the MA Animation degree:
- A file containing up to 8 life drawings.
- A file containing up to 8 observational drawings – these can be any subject matter, any technique but should be drawn from life.
- A written description of one of your recent animated films or project work. This should include the title, synopsis and overview. If the work has been screened or received any awards this should also be highlighted here.
- The storyboard and supporting design sheets for your selected film or project work.
- A link to your animation showreel and/or the selected film.
- A file containing up to 8 images of any additional specialist work you may have. This could include puppets, sets, CG models or rigs, character designs, sketchbook or photographic work.
Use of AI
Your portfolio must contain your own work. We understand that some of your portfolio may include work created in part or whole by AI. You must acknowledge this by adding ‘AI generated’ to the relevant section(s), stating how you used AI to create images, and adding a link to the original image with the date it was created (where possible).
