Our new Creative Work Experience programmes are a great insight into working within the creative sector, and give you the opportunity to engage with professionals in the creative industry.

Over three days, you will experience the University as a creative workplace, and learn about working in the creative sector as a freelance or self-employed professional. You will learn more about employability skills applicable to creative workplaces, such as lone-working, invoicing, motivation, collaboration and time management. You will be expected to make your own way to and from the daily sessions, dress appropriately and identify the right time to take breaks as you would in a creative workplace.

You will then be set a live brief to work on independently, before presenting your ideas back to an interview panel. There will also be an opportunity for you to gain feedback on your portfolio of work, and speak to current student ambassadors about their experience of studying creative courses at the University. At the end of the programme, you will be able to answer the following:

  • What does it mean to go to work in the creative industry?
  • Do I want to work in the sector?
  • Do I understand what a creative role would entail?

The programme is delivered across three days, with the second day dedicated to independent working.
