He brings a wide knowledge of industry practice in support of several courses, including Film Production, Journalism, Digital Film & Screen Arts, Media and Communications, and Acting and Performance – relating and integrating the use of camera technologies and working practices. His diverse background across a swathe of live, recorded and broadcast positions enables a strongly practical related approach in supporting the academic teams, and ensuring students understand and embrace current and emerging technologies in preparation for future employment or career.
David obtained a BA(Hons) 1st in Film & Television Production as a mature student in 2010, and has focused his future on supporting education in the field of lens based media technologies. He was recognised in 2017 as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
With the rapidly increasing influence and intrusion of digital media in all aspects of society, and particularly rapidly changing technologies both behind and in front of the camera. David works closely with students guiding development of creative thinking, mastering digital language and relating this to practical outcomes, offers practical opportunities for cross-curricular support and learning. He works closely with acting students as they develop an understanding of the “intrusive” nature of filmmaking as well as new technologies in contemporary performance.
