Andy Bossom

Andrew Bossom is Industry Engagement Lead for Games & Creative Technology at the University for the Creative Arts, playing a pivotal role in developing and delivering key collaborative partnerships with the games industry both regionally and nationally. Andrew joined UCA in 2015, having previously worked in the Games and Postproduction industries.

Bio

Andrew collaborates closely with the games industry to establish meaningful and sustainable partnerships that arise from real sector-need, drawing on UCA researcher expertise across areas including motion capture, virtual production, XR, AI, UX, EDI, and interactive storytelling.

Presently, Andy is leading the partnership project “Immersive Storytelling for Avatars in Realtime gaming: human data capture for AI-drive non-playable character engagement in games”, in collaboration with SKC Games Studio, funded by XR Stories. Additionally, Andrew engages in the development and co-authoring of live projects with companies including Supermassive Games, SEGA Two Point, and Kwalee.

Andrew is Director of the UCA Games Incubator Studio, nurturing next-generation talent at UCA’s Farnham campus and overseeing the successful publication of five distinctive graduate intellectual property games across PC, VR, and mobile platforms. Andy will oversee the incubator’s expansion over the next couple of years through involvement in the £1.5 Games and Innovation Nexus (GAIN) project (University of Surrey, University of Warwick and UCA, funded through Research England’s Connecting Capability Fund), which will offer innovation vouchers to games companies to help support sector growth.

Notably, he is a published author, contributing insights on the games industry and the game design process for Bloomsbury Publishing and Imprint Fairchild Books.

Andrew’s research interests are practice-based, with a focus on industry research collaboration, Knowledge exchange and Knowledge Transfer Partnership in relation to the Games industry and Serious/Applied Games.
